Welcome!

My name is Michèle Floyd and I fell in love with music at the age of 5.  I started singing with my family as a toddler and joined a private choir at the age of 5. I learned to make music with others, make wonderful harmonies and read music as I was learning to read my ABC's. My high school piano teacher gave me a passion for teaching that has never left me and she was my inspiration to begin teaching. I started volunteer-teaching to friends in high school and college, and volunteered with the private choir where I had started my life-long musical journey. I also had the opportunity to be the music teacher in 2003-04 at Kalifonsky Christian School. It was at this time I discovered the amazing rewards that only come from teaching! I LOVE TEACHING MUSIC!

I started my own music studio in 1999 teaching private piano and group voice for students ages 4 through adult. I have taught in many communities around the state. For piano, I use a blend of traditional methods such as Alfreds, Bastien, John Thompson and more contemporary methods for students to play both "by reading" and "by ear." This is essential to a well-rounded musician! I have a Bachelor of Science in Piano Performance and am a member of the Music Teachers National Association, the Alaska Music Teachers Association, and the Anchorage Keyboard Teachers Association and the Kenai Central Peninsula Music Teachers as part of the National Federation of Music Clubs.
