2025-2026 Class offerings
*FALL enrollment is closed. SPRING enrollment will open October 1st.

Semester-long Music Classes: 
These prices are per student. Minimum enrollment is 4 students per class. Maximum is 8. $225/mo

Classes are held once a week, and are one hour in length. 
*Youth classes are for ages 18 and under and not graduated high school. Adult classes are for those who have graduated high school. 
If you have a group of at least 4, but no more than 8, students, please email me your contact information and if there is an opening in the studio schedule we will arrange a class time.

Prior to the first class, students will be enrolled, tuition will be paid and materials will be purchased (if necessary). To ensure quality instruction, the cap for enrollment is 8 students per class unless otherwise noted. 

The recommended classes for homeschool students are General Music I, Group Piano for Beginners or Group Piano for Younger Beginners. The only class I offer for pre-readers is Music for Little Mozart's which combines all elements of music in a play environment perfect for non-readers.

Tutoring: Tutoring is available for any age of student, whether you are taking music classes at a private school, public school, college, or just want some help! Call for availability and pricing.

Alfred's Group Piano Course is the curriculum I start with, however, I have supplemental material I add throughout the year.

General Music I ~ 1 semester

This class includes in-depth studies in Music Appreciation, Music History, Music Theory, Influential Composers & Conductors and Instrument Families. Special Note: Recommended for families with 4 - 8 students ages 8-18

General Music II ~ 1 semester

Continuation of General Music I, plus Music Composition and Group singing if desired.      
Prerequisite: General Music I, or teacher admittance with interview. Recommended for families with 4 - 8 students ages 8-18

Music Appreciation ~ Year long (2 semesters)

Basic elements of the physics of musical sound and music notation, followed by a survey of the history and development of Western music from the early Middle Ages to the present.                                                Special Note: Recommended ages 13+

Music History I & II ~ I - Fall semester, II - Spring semester

I: Music before 1750. Explores stylistic developments and structure from Antiquity through Medieval, Renaissance, and Baroque eras within their historical context. Special Note: Recommended ages 13+
II: Western Art music since 1750. Stylistic developments and structure through Classical, Romantic, and 20th Century eras within their historical context. Also covers World Music topics.                                              
Special Note: Recommended ages 13+           Prerequisite: Music History I, or teacher admittance with interview.

Music Theory I & II ~ I - Fall semester, II ~ Spring semester

I: Organization of musical materials with emphasis on diatonic functional harmony. Introduction to part writing and keyboard skills. 
Special Note: Recommended ages 13+
II: Continuation of Music Theory I, emphasizing part writing and melody harmonization. Introduction of non-harmonic tones and modulation and development of practical keyboard skills.                                          
Special Note: Recommended ages 13+            Prerequisite: Music Theory I, or teacher admittance with interview.

Jazz History ~ By appointment

History and development of jazz from its early heritage to the present, emphasizing representative styles and individual or group contributors. Special Note: Recommended ages 15+

Music Conducting I ~ by appointment

Introduces principles of conducting. Explores time-beating, use of left hand, score reading, and transposition as they relate to conducting.            Special Note: Recommended ages 15+
Prerequisite: Music Theory I & II and Choral, Orchestral or Band Experience, or teacher admittance with interview.
