Studio Policy
Fall & Spring Lessons will run September 8, 2026 - May 20, 2027.
Private lessons include: 32 custom-built lessons to fit the learning style of the student and goals of the student and parents and 3 recitals (required attendance for school-aged students).
1. Curriculum: You will be responsible for purchasing any required books or curriculum within the first month of starting lessons. I will let you know what to buy if I do not have it available in my studio.
2. Vacation Days:
Thanksgiving holiday November 24-28 Christmas/New Year holiday December 21- January 4
Spring holiday March 15-19
Easter holiday April 5-9
3. Recital Day Location: Kenai Christian Church. All dates are tentative until this message has been removed.
Christmas Recital, December 8
Duet Festival, March 8
*optional* FESTIVAL & Theory Adjudication, date TBA
Spring Recital May 10 or 17
4. All prices are per student. *Note: A $25/per student recital fee will be added to the initial bill, or later for students starting part way through the school year. This is a required fee and will not be pro-rated regardless of recital attendance.
5. Students in level 1 - 3 may take 30 or 45 minute lessons.
Students in level 4 or above will be required to take 45 minute lessons.
Students in level 5 and up will be required to take 60 minute lessons.
I will communicate with you if your student is needing a longer lesson slot.
6. Students should bring ALL study materials, handouts, practice charts, homework, etc. to each lesson.
7. Make-up lessons will be made available within the same semester within studio scheduling. Make-up lessons must be complete by; Fall: 1/15/27. Spring: 5/20/27. Credits will not be offered. I am flexible. Communication is key.
8. Tuition is due at the first lesson of the month. If payment is not received by the second lesson of the month a $30 late fee will be added. If payment is not received within thirty (30) days of the first lesson of the month, the regularly scheduled lesson times will be forfeited and assigned to the next student on the waiting list. Missed lessons CANNOT be deducted from the bill. The monthly payment is still required to hold your time slot during planned vacations, however, I MAY give a reduced rate at my discretion if I receive notice at least a month in advance. Payment will be cash or checks made out to Michele Floyd. If you would like to pay with a credit card there will be a convenience fee added.
9. Late students will receive the remainder of their allotted time. If lessons are missed on a regular basis (more than two a month) for more than two consecutive months, lessons may be terminated without refund. Again, communication is key.
10. School-aged students are required to participate in the Christmas Recital, Duet Recital and Spring Music Recital unless there is a serious illness or family emergency, or arrangements have been made with me in advance. It is essential that all students remain for the entire performance.
11. There will be an option for students to participate in "Festival" with the NTMC which I am a member. There is an additional cost and sign-up deadlines. There will also be opportunities to participate in the "Ribbon Festival" and other adjudicated events through the year with the MTNA, AMTA & AKTA as I am a member of these associations. Contact me for more information and requirements. All these events usually require sign up and song selection be completed 3-6 months in advance.
12. If a check is returned by the bank or a charge on your bank card doesn't clear due to insufficient funds, you will be charged a $30.00 cash fee. Two returned checks or NSF, you will be required to pay cash, money order or cashiers check only.
13. Please notify me of any health problems, sensitivities or allergies that I should be aware of and whom to notify in the case of an emergency.
14. If a student requires the change of lesson time slot due to schedule change, sport participation, or employment, there must be 7 DAYS prior notice in order to plan lesson schedule.
15. LESSON TERMINATION: Lessons will be terminated by the teacher in the event of irregular attendance, repeated failure to prepare assigned material, disruptive or destructive behavior, disrespectful attitude towards the teacher, unpaid tuition, or disregard for studio policy. Tuition and security deposit/music account (if applicable) will not be refunded. No Exceptions.
